Identifiers as the Core of the Knowledge Base

Managers, Providers, Authorities, and Standards Bodies are not necessarily equivalent to an organisation or an institution.

It is quite common for Institutions to host multiple Managers (e.g. repositories), and sometimes multiple Providers (DataCite as an organisation hosts multiple Providers). ISO as an organisation hosts multiple Standards Bodies by our definition.

The design of the Knowledge base makes provision for linking any Manager, Provider, Authority, or Standards Body to a list of unique Institutions, which also has a typology.

These institutions sometimes have a RoR and/or a re3Data reference LOD URI (not shown, stored in k_AlternateIdentifier (not shown)
